The holiday spirit filled the air at Mount Peter on Sunday when Santa was spotted skiing on the slopes. People laughing, and smiling ear to ear as Santa made his way around the mountain saying “Ho Ho Ho” and handing out candy canes to put everyone in the holiday spirit. I don’t know about you but Santa didn’t visit me on the magic carpet when I was learning how to ski, I am totally jealous! The family mountain was a great place to be on Sunday, either on the slopes or in a tube. The weather was perfect, the sun was shining and conditions were great.
Holiday break is an exciting time for ski areas, as their slopes fill with Holiday Camps with kids of all ages, and families taking a trip to mountain for the first time or for the 5th year in a row. The holiday week is always fun.
My family spends the holidays on the slopes at Belleayre Mountain. One of our newest traditions is skiing on Christmas day. It’s great to get outdoors, off the couch and make some memories. Also lift lines are pretty much non existent as many people don’t ski on the Holiday, which makes it even better. While I love to see everyone out on the slopes shredding it up and having lots of fun I also love skiing an empty mountain. Even if we only take a few runs we still earned bragging rights that we made some turns on Christmas day.
Lots of ski areas are preparing for NYE. Check out deals and events, some areas have a lot going on like Groomer Parade, torchlight parade and fireworks at Holiday Valley, or a bonfire, torch light parade, fireworks, and live entertainment at Greek Peak Mountain Resort.
Ski ya on the slopes,
